Alice Springs 2005
The big trip to Central Australia is now over. The reason for the trip was to commemorate the cease of production of the International Scout twenty five years ago and Alice Springs was chosen because of its central position from anywhere within Australia. There are also unique scenic and historic attractions both natural and man-made in this area. Because of the contribution International Harvester has made to the development of the country, the National Transport Hall of Fame extended an invitation to us to visit their display. We gratefully accepted this invitation and decided between the Clubs that it would be appropriate to leave a memento of this occasion. It was decided to create a collage depicting the history of the International Scout. Ken & Jeanette Sellars took on the responsibility of collecting information from various sources and arranging it for presentation. Ron and June Thomas volunteered to put together a "simple structure" to house this information. The result was finally unveiled at a special B.B.Q. organised by the Transport Hall of Fame. Thanks to Ron and June's enthusiasm and interest in the Scouts, the result was a beautiful wooden replica of the Scout windscreen frame mounted on a four legged base with the information housed in an air-tight case behind the windscreen.
