Who Are We ?The Q.L.D International Scout Owners Club was formed in 1992. The two main focuses are a specific interest in Scouts, and enjoying trips and events with a like minded group. We are a member of the Queensland Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs Inc. , and the Australian National Four Wheel Drive Council Inc. It is not necessary to own a Scout or an International to be a member. A newsletter is published by the club each month. Because Scouts have not been built since 1980, one of our main activities is to source replacement, reconditioned, remanufactuered and second hand parts from with-in Australia, and the U.S.A. Our members have also built up a knowledge of alternative parts which will be suitable for Scouts. Club members may gain discounts at most parts, tyre and component businesses. Where Do We Go ?Our Trip Calendar is prepared for each half year. Club members are asked for imput so that we can cater for as wide a range of events and destinations as possible. Week-end trips to such places as Kenilworth State Forest, Tin Can Bay-Double Island, The Border Ranges and private properties which permit bush driving experience are included. We also have a light-hearted observation-type rally, and a vehicle/BBQ day each year. Our activities vary in the nature and type of driving to be encountered. Some trips have been on sealed roads and highways. When on beach or forest trips, we offer an easier route for those who may not wish to tackle a more demanding medium or hard track. Most of our members have restored an unigue vehicle. We are not in the business of destroying them just to prove a point. Driver TrainingWe encourage our members to do at least a Driver Awareness Programme course either within the club, or with the Q.A.F.W.D.C. this course, with trained instructors, introduces you to the safety aspects of 4W Driving, what you can expect your vehicle to be able to do, and follows the policy of the Tread Lightly Programme. The release of a National recreation Driving Standards by the Federal Government will make it easy for Forestry and National Parks officers to greatly restrict access to tracks, and some beautiful scenery, to those 4W Drivers who do not have a Standard Certificate. members are required to have atleast Third Party Property insurance cover on the vehicle used for Club activities. Also, through the ANFWDC, we have access to a very thorough Comprhensive insurance scheme. Where and When Do We meet ?Our club meetings are held on the first Monday of each month.except January, at QAFWDC Hall, Muriel Avenue, Moorooka, commencing 7:30 p.m. Although attendance is not compulsory it is appreciated.
